Connaught Place

After sleeping till noon, I headed to downtown Delhi. I decided to not pack everything in, it might be better to just walk around and waste time instead.
Connaught Place is 3 concentric circles of shops and traffic. It was overwhelming so I decided to refer to the guide book for a starting point or direction. The first stop was a coffee at my new second home away from the hotel that is my home - Coffee Day.
I was intrigued by the menu item green apple soda. Green apple soda is my favorite childhood soda of all time. In China, coca-cola makes it. It is bright green syrupy sugar and bubbles. Unfortunately the one I had this morning was non of those things.
From coffee I headed to the recommended shop Fabindia which sells textiles, home goods, some food items and clothing. I got spices, wheat pasta, and some chilie salad dressing for home, a scarf to wear to temples, and some giant pleated black pants. The pants were amazing, really light cotton, with pleats and folds and drapping, like a greek dress. At dinner, Apu would inform me that these pants I got are only for wearing under a dress, they are not pants pants. Glad I didn't change into them at the store. It is ok to show all kinds of stomach here, but not knees which is opposite from China where stomach and feet are traditionally hidden.
Later at Kahn Market, I headed to a familiar place, a third floor cafe I had been to on my first day for lime chilie gnocchi and lime soda. Lime soda is enjoyable for the same qualities as salty plum soda, but more refreshing because it is less salty.
Dinner was at a Italian place where I decided to explore domestic Indian whisky. I also had a plate of mushrooms. The way vegetables are cooked is so complex in flavor that it is as satisfying as a steak even to me.

My day of regular non-tourism has me feeling guilty. I have grand plans for tomorrow, so sleep is a must, too bad it is already 1am.

Safdarjang's Tomb
Lunch at a revolving resturant or a theme resturant
Old Delhi Tour 2:15 - 5:15
Then some good reading time for work on Monday.
